The Scale of project extends from the design of small refurbishments in operational plants, temporary works through to full design and construction supervision on green field sites.
A Chartered Structural Engineer by profession, and having been awarded a Masters degree in Industrial Project Management with Distinction from the University of Birmingham in 2015. Michael is equally comfortable working in the minute detail of Engineering design as in high level management of projects, programmes and portfolios, and brings this experience and drive to the entire team. Having embarked on his career in Engineering in an Irish based Consultancy, after 6 years, Michael moved to an international project delivery firm and working on high profile large projects for blue Chip clients.
In 2002 he founded Maceo Design and Management with the express aim utilising his gained experience to provide “Integrated Engineering solutions” and project management services to Industrial clients.
Since Maceo’s inception, Michael has generated and maintained excellent working partnerships with Major international clients such as GSK, Aryzta, Glanbia and Zimmer Orthopeadics as well as delivering bespoke projects for local clients within the UK and Ireland.
Michael continually strives to grow Maceo Design and Management and increase the organisations sphere of influence through a constant drive for innovation in the efficient execution of projects to deliver Client satisfaction.
Nigel Hill
Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Hons 1) University of New South Wales, Australia
He has a wide range of experience with a large number of International Blue Chip companies, working on preliminary feasibility studies and front end designs through to single production line upgrades and up to full factory builds, refurbishments and expansions.
Comfortable working closely with Architectural, Civils and Building Services disciplines and client’s management, engineering, operations and product development teams he has a successful track record on projects ranging from €100K through to multi-million euros with project lifetimes of a few months through to two years plus in duration.
Along with capital expansion and process design work, Nigel has experience in the development of manufacturing rationalization strategies and technology transfers.
He has worked for a major food production company, bespoke engineering equipment suppliers and engineering consultancies so has a good working knowledge of all sides of the client – supplier – consultant interface.
Nigel’s most recent work in the UK has included the management of a new packing line for Premier Foods, a front end design and costing for a new venture at Northern Foods and is currently working as Project manager for Cereform, Corby on the installation of a new process line. Nigel is also involved as the process & equipment lead on the Kettering bakery project.

Aidan joined the Maceo team in 2007 on two large scale multistorey residential projects in Dublin Ireland and has recently been CM on the installation of a high speed carbonates bottling line at the GSk site in Cole ford Gloustershire. Aidan was responsible for the construction and management of the area refurbishment for the new line. The fast tracked project required the construction and installation of all relevant equipment within 26 weeks with a 17 Million Sterling spend.

Maceo Design & Management was established in 2002 in Dublin with the express intention of providing Integrated Engineering Design and Project Management services within a single organisation to maximise coordinated effort and eliminate replication of roles and tasks. The Principal’s previous experience in Design, Management, and leadership roles with leading Irish and UK based Engineering Consultancies provided a strong background for the formation of a such company intent on providing this integrated service.
Initially offering solely Civil, Structural and Architectural services, Maceo quickly realised its stated intent through the addition Mechanical & Electrical building services design capability and 2005 moved to new offices more suitable to our growing staff numbers and requirements. This move ideally located the organisation to service our growing domestic and international client base.
Our UK office was opened in 2010 to support our growing portfolio of projects within the UK and further boost our service offering.
In the intervening years the service offering had further expanded to include enhanced Project Management capability and Process Design services along with Health and Safety and Construction Management services.
Continued growth in both jurisdictions along with project support services throughout Europe and increasingly into Africa and Asia have increased the service offering to the extent that Maceo now offer the complete integrated engineering and project management service as first envisaged.
Our truly integrated team provides fully aligned efficient designs in a practical fashion which greatly aids the implementation process and thus ensures the prompt delivery of a Project’s Business benefits.

Gaelectric are a leading independent developer and operator of renewable energy projects in wind, bioenergy and solar on the island of Ireland and in Great Britain.
Throughout 2014 and 2015 Maceo Design & Management ltd provided Engineering design, integration and masterplanning services in the development of a number of distinct Compressed air energy storage projects in the Larne area of Northern Ireland.
This developing technology utilises off peak electrical power to compress ambient air to extremely high pressures and store same in underground caverns. On demand this compressed air may be released and combined with natural gas to run a gas turbine at up to 70% more efficiently than with Natural Gas alone. The Larne project aims to use CAES to generate up to 330 megawatts of power - enough to power around 30,000 homes for periods of up to six hours.
After many iterations and design solutions a planning application for the project was submitted in January 2016 on a site on IslandMagee Co Antrim.

ARYZTA is one of the largest frozen bakery companies in the world. The group has a leadership position in the speciality frozen bakery sector and is a global supplier of baked goods to the foodservice, retail and QSR sectors.
ARYZTA’s wide range of products and capabilities includes artisan breads, sweet baked goods & morning goods as well as an array of other savoury items such as pizza, tarts and pies.
ARYZTA operates 60 Bakeries & Kitchens across Europe, North America, South America,
Maceo acted as Engineering Procurement and Construction Management contractors for a £7m redevelopment and extension to the Aryzta facility at Kettering UK.
The project consisted of the installation of two new make up lines, associated provers, ovens, two spiral freezers and end of line equipment along with the installation of two new batch blast freezers, a new 1000 pallet cold store and dispatch area.

15015 - Glanbia Drogheda Chill Store Refurbishment
Glanbia PLC, Irelands largest supplier of liquid Milk products committed to upgrade their existing Chill Store facility at their key production facility at Drogheda Co Louth.
The project consisted of the removal of the internal polystyrene core panel envelope along with all electrical and refrigeration services and their replacement with a new rockwool core envelope and new energy efficient building services systems. In addition a new high care flooring system of Ucrete UD200 and Fully Vitrified tiles were installed to improve the GMP finishes in the area.
Due to the criticality of the Chill Store to Site operations, the improvement works were carried out within a timescale of five weeks, which significant costs being incurred in the provision of alternative storage facilities within this period.
Maceo Design & Management ltd provided full Engineering design and project management support along with construction monitoring to ensure that the overall budget of €800k consisting of an average daily outlay of €32k remained on target.
